The Health Care Debate as Defined by the Wealthy
“In Just 16 months from which Glenn Beck moved from CNN to FOX you can chart the incredible progress of Health Care in the Country” – Jon Stewart, The Daily Show
Glenn Beck and Jon Stewart are both paid millions to “talk”. Neither should be taken seriously. Both make obscene amounts of money (See Below) and both can easily afford the very best Health Care the Nation has to offer.
First off I am neither Republican nor Democrat. Until this year I had no idea who Glenn Beck was because I do not pay attention to people, only the issues they represent. The people change the problems and Good Old Boy network remain the same. When an issue arises I take sides with the people from either party that represents the best solutions.
There is a lot of Hypocrisy in Glenn Becks words and I believe both followers and critics alike already know this fact. Glenn Beck is all about the money. On one hand Glenn Beck is bitching and moaning about how poor the people treated him at his stay at one of the Countries Best Hospitals. Then about a year later is is bashing the Health Care Reform package because “We already have the Best Health Care in the World”. So which is it Glenn… does our Health Care suck or is it the Best?
The Doctors that treated me that are not connected to the Hospital were incredible. Glenn’s gripe was with the Staff of the Hospital not his personal Physicians.
For the record I am not opposed to Health Care Reform I’m totally for it. But I am totally against the Bill the House just pushed through in spite of major opposition. Mandating Health Care is not a benefit to the American People, it’s a tax plain and simple. I’m against any Bill that does not represent fully the needs of All Americans. And this Bill is simply a rush job to try and make the Obama Administration look good. If we have learned anything in the past year it’s that rushing through legislation is a very bad idea. 501(c)(3) status is a joke. It allows CEO’s and Executives to compensate themselves however they see fit while their companies pay no taxes.
The recently passed Health Care Bill is going nowhere because of the issue of Abortion. When the Government decides to fund or not fun Abortion they are in a situation they can not win. This is just one more reason that the Government needs to play only a regulatory role in Health Care and let the market do it’s job. What about the impoverished and the poor you say? The solution is not more social programs, the solution is to provide an economic climate of opportunity. The solution is to allow Charity to do it’s job. The United States killed all it’s Charitable Hospitals back in the 1970’s. 501
I’m for regulating Health Care, I’m actually for making all Health Care non-profit. However the rules of practice have got to be changed. You see I worked for one of the largest Health Care Companies on the West Coast! A company that pays their retired CEO a $5 Million per year salary to NOT WORK! Sure after years of service its okay to pay compensation in the form of retirement benefits, but $5 Million? And this was a not-for-profit institution.
I’m for removing barriers to competition. I’m for limiting Executive compensation to a multiple of the lowest paid worker. I’m for regulating shareholder profits so that investors are rewarded, but not excessively. Remaining profits flow back through to the people who need services. And I do not know how to accomplish these goals, but until the greed is removed nothing positive is going to happen. Society and the American People need to decide what they want by voting not by letting Politicians cram their own agendas down our throats.
Back to Glen Beck… he is an example of a person who is not interested in reform, but only in furthering the millions of Dollars he makes each year by stirring the pot.
FYI: I don’t watch Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and I realize it’s just comedy and sometimes skewed to the left. So I’m not going to take sides with Jon Stewart or Glenn Beck… I just find the Hypocrisy Laughable.
PS: Taking sides with either does nothing more than distract from the Real Issue and that is supporting legislation that really does offer vast improvements to the Health Care System without mandating and forcing bad policy on the American People.

Definition of obscenely wealthy: anyone who makes more than you know you ever will.
Have you ever asked a poor person for a job?
I think it would help if you spelled things correctly.
Many small business owners are considered rich by this administration at $250,000. If they have are operating under a S corporation they may be living on a lot less than than amount. We live in a capitalist society with a president that is trying to make it into a socialist society. They could pass a bill that takes care of those that actually don't have insurance instead of adding adding more massive debt and forcing people to change insurance companies. The government has never been know to run anything efficiently and they won't run health care efficiently either. If Glen Beck is rich or anyone else is, more power to them. Socialism didn't work for the Puritans off the Mayflower and it's not going to work now.
good to hear on You-Tube.
Mike, I generally love what you write. Not this time. The idea of limiting shareholder or investment income...or executive pay are exactly what organizations who want to be average do. I don't disagree that most pay and returns may be out of whack with risk involved, but that is not the executive's fault...nor is it the shareholders fault.
Freedom is the right to be wrong. Its also the right to redress our grievances by taking our money elsewhere. Unfortunately, when the government owns the resources and confiscates all money in taxes, we lose that right and that freedom.
I don't want the government involved...their only objectives should be market fairness and transparency.
ive come to realize that we the people are bailing out the banks once again in overdraft fees, people please, the only plesure points your going to get is if you go to your bank and get the money out that you need to spend,no swiping at the gas pump no more, keith flint mt.
